Please Don’t Change Me

You constantly are trying to change me,
always wanting to rearrange me
I just want to be myself!
I am not like you,
I can’t do what you do
I’m just me, and nobody else.
If I start to say no, you will say yes.
You can’t read my mind, so why second-guess?
When I want to go, you want to stay.
Whether right or wrong, it’s always your way.
We don’t need to fight or argue and shout.
I know if we try, we can work things out.
By working together, we’ll both soon see,
If I let you be you, and you let me be me
“Our lives will blend into sweet harmony.”
